The rug trade has dotted the global landscape for millennia. What began as simple woven pieces for warmth, comfort, prayer, and meditation evolved into one of humanity’s most enduring art forms.
The Pazyryk Carpet, dated to approximately 500 BCE and preserved in the frozen soil of Siberia, is the oldest surviving piled rug in existence.
It was discovered in 1949 among the belongings of a distinguished member of the nomadic Pazyryk tribe. Today it rests in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, its rich reds, greens, and golds still glowing with life after 2,500 years.
“The splendor of this magnificent textile hasn’t diminished in the 2,500 years since its creation.”
A Story Spanning Millennia
The Pazyryk Carpet emerges from Siberian ice — proof that rugs have been true works of art for over two and a half thousand years.
In Europe, the finest Oriental rugs were considered too precious to walk upon. They adorned palace walls and tables as living masterpieces.
Rugs that are both functional and deeply artistic — alluring yet soothing, delicate yet enduring, contemporary yet timeless.
Today, fine hand-knotted rugs satisfy both functional and decorative desires. They are art you can live with — providing warmth, comfort, and beauty all at once.
Alluring yet soothing.
Delicate yet enduring.
Contemporary yet timeless.
Step into a world where every rug tells a story spanning thousands of years.
